A Writers’ Guide to Science Fiction vs. Reality – Alien Species

Alien SpeciesI was always more of a star trek than a star wars fan. Specifically, Next Generation, with ol’ Captain Jean-Luc Picard. He was ‘da man’ according to my dad. To which, of course, I immediately wanted to rebel against any such assertion, so I insisted on calling him Captain Plackard for the better part of half a decade.

In both those franchises, there are more creatures and ugly aliens than puss filled spots at a 15th birthday bash.

But what of ‘real’ aliens? And what if you wanted to add a pinch of reality to your science fiction?

Whether you believe little green men flying in aerodynamic dinner plates have visited us or not, isn’t the point of this post. This is about fantasy and science fiction writing and I guess dystopian too. If you want to set your story on an Earth like planet, using a society similar to what we have, or even want to inject a little realism into a far fantasy/sci-fi story, then this Alien Top of the Pops is for you.

“At least four different alien species have been visiting Earth for thousands of years.” Former Canadian Defence Minister Paul Hellyer

I think a pinch of reality makes something all the more scary. What will give your story realism, is the fact some of these species are widely reported in conspiracies. Whether or not people believe doesn’t matter. The point is they will have heard of these creatures. Even a whisper in society is enough to give weight to a story. So whether readers believe in these species or not, their subconscious probably has probably heard of them and all you need is the illusion of truth and that will make your stories all the more real and scary to them.

I’ve picked the four most frequently whispered about aliens. At the bottom, I have linked to a series of youtube videos that list 82 different species that have visited Earth. If you want to do your research on aliens in conspiracies to give a more realistic or perhaps a scary feel to your story then that’s the series for you.

Number One – Grey Aliens

Image pilfered from google

Image pilfered from googleNumber One – The Greys

Everyone knows what a grey alien is. It’s the iconic, starved of oxygen runt of the litter. With skinny arms, legs and body and a disproportionately oversized head. Their name comes from their skin colour, grey. They’re also real short, at just 4ft high.

They are said to come from the Zeta Reticulan star system.

Made famous by the Roswell crash, there’s even a festival over there celebrating them. (#Bucketlist).

They might be small, but don’t underestimate them, these little fuckers are nasty. They’re the species attributed to 99% of alien abductions and the supposed hybrid programme combining human and alien DNA. They are also famed for experimenting on animals and dropping disembodied cow (and any other animal for that matter) carcasses all over the place.

This ‘grey alien’ term is widely accepted, but it seems as though there are many a variation of grey alien. From the taller greys sometimes know as Sirians attributable by their home star Sirius, to the short ones I have already mentioned.

They don’t like light. Some suggest that’s the reason for their big black eyes, which might actually be some kind of Morpheus superhero sunglasses. They also don’t talk. At least not our language. Conspiracists suggest they are telepathic only, and there are many a video on youtube with secret footage like this one showing it.

Number Two – Pleiadian or Nordic

Image pilfered from google and who mention this website

Imagine an baby making orgy between ABBA, Galadriel (Cate Blanchett in LOTRs) and a spiritually inclined giant viking, and that’s what a Nordic alien looks like.

They’re tall, like basketball player tall, at an average of 6-7 feet and get their name from their home star system Pleiadies 400 light years away. Skeptics refute that any lifeforms could come from their and be more advanced than us as those stars are still young.

They are said to be peaceful, spiritual and telepathic and only interested in interacting with humans rather than experimenting on us!

Their rise to fame was during the 50’s and 60’s after a number of reported sightings and interactions. However, skeptics refute the sightings claiming racial motivation due to their overtly ‘white’ appearances.

Supposedly Eisenhower met with them in ’54 to exchange technology and they tried influence him to disarm his nuclear efforts.

Number Three – Annunaki

The Annunaki are in fashion right now and my own personal obsession. I’ve written about them and their connection to the giants before. Also known as long heads, Nephilim, or gods. They are famed for being connected to Ancient Egyptian, Sumerian and Babylonian history and mythology.

But they are also connected to the bible. Said to have been the ‘watchers’ or angels who came down to Earth, copped off with our women and made the Nephilim (hybrid angel/alien babies). They taught us all kinds of cool stuff like how to make weapons, what ‘society’ and law is amongst a bunch of other stuff. Bit like the other bible story of the garden of Eden and the snake/apple.

They became widely popular after several elongated skulls were found in Paracas, Peru. Now, skull deformation isn’t a rarity in itself. The Mangbetu tribe in Africa would elongate all their heads, and the practice can still be found in Vanuatu today. However, what caused controversy was the formation of the skulls. Even when we elongate our brains the volume of space inside our skulls doesn’t change. These skulls had 30% more volume, as well as a different bone thickness and density, and only one parietal bone where we have two.

Cuneiform is supposedly the closest language to theirs something they taught to the Sumerians. See the photo on the right for an example. It comprises a set of almost triangular/star like markings arranged in rows.

The winged eagle with a circle in the top left is now widely accepted as the symbol for Annunaki. The wings representing flight and a ‘higher’ godlike status and the planet, Nibiru, their home.

What I find most interesting about the Annunaki is they are said to be from our solar system. From Planet X or the mystery planet often known as Nibiru said to come into our solar system orbits every 3600 years. There is actually a hole in the asteroid belt which suggests that something planet sized came/comes through it. It has also been blamed for smashing into Earth and splintering the moon off.

What’s interesting is that scientists do say there is some massive influence on our solar system that we haven’t identified yet, and I’m not talking dark matter here.

Many stars are actually double stars, or binary stars i.e. they live in ‘close’ proximity to another star, both influencing and impacting on each others gravitational pull. Nibiru is said to have lower light and radiation on their planet, which makes sense if they orbit stars at such extreme lengths. Supposedly, the Annunaki have drastically shortened lives living on Earth due to the increased light and radiation on our planet.

Here’s a confused bunch of reporters from KSRA filming the sky before dawn and a mysterious second sun? or maybe it is a planet…

Number Four – Reptilian or Alpha Draconian

pilfered from google

Imagine there was no catastrophic meteor 60 million years ago. What would dinosaurs have evolved into? Some kind of night-terror inducing, human / reptoid hybrid? Well, just maybe.

These are the Voldemort of the alien world. Nasty, human-eating mofos. There are a number of supposed subsets to this species. Including: preying mantis style insectoids, a delightful shape shifting world leader infiltrating bunch, a set that live underground here on Earth and well as some snakey looking bitches and a few others.

also pilfered from google!

also pilfered from google!

So named ‘Draconian’ because of their home star system, Draco. It’s a big ol’ system with stars ranging anything from  72 to 3000 light years away.

These reptoids are massive 7-9ft tall, scaley have vertical lizard pupils and three long fingers.

They have the most conspiracy surrounding them, including that they secretly run the world through rich families, hybridisation with humans and monarchies to actually being the world leaders and the pope shapeshifted in disguise! To inspiring TV series, like V.

Here’s the series of videos I mentioned with a mammoth list of 82 species that have reportedly visited earth, this is like a sci-fi candy box, grab the popcorn and binge out peeps.

The first video is here, the second here the final one here.

So what alien species have you heard of? Have you ever written any stories with them in? Have these sparked stories ideas for you? Let me know in the comments.

  1. wow, Sacha you have hit on my own personal paranoia bone with this post today. I love the alien conspiracy whole shebang thing. I`m always having dreams about them invading and such like. And the Nephilim are my personal favourites too, I have done a lot of research on them and keep finding bits of gold here and there. The Book Of Enoch is the one that was left out of the bible, along with many others and there is a writer I love called Storm Constantine who I have followed since I was a teeny goth. Her series, The Grigori Books are wonderful, her website http://www.stormconstantine.co.uk/# lists the trilogy. Some people think that the Nephilim’s home is through Orion`s belt which leads me onto, Erich von Däniken and his claims that our Gods were in fact, aliens all along. Anyway I loved this post and my fav Star Trek crew was Janeway`s lot but I did prefer Babylon 5. Enough of the aliens my coffee is calling me, have a great day Sacha thanks for the post.

    1. Ahh nice to know you’re a fellow fan of ancient aliens. I know Von Daniken well. I have the book of Enoch on my kindle and I haven’t heard for Storm constantine though – off I trot… 😀 But I am HUGELY fascinated by all this stuff, a lot more of my posts on Fridays will revolve around these kinds of theories.

I have an entire bookshelf dedicated to the likes of von Daniken and Zacharia sitchen. The publishing house Bear and Co do a lot of really easy to understand versions of all this information. But I will check out storm.

haha, janeway wasn’t bad either to be fair! :p

      1. It’s still weird to think about. I don’t see why there wouldn’t be other life out there. Humans can inhabit Earth, but I’m sure there are other species out there on the other planets. Just because we can’t live on the other planets doesn’t mean we’re the only ones who exist.

  2. Think I heard of all, but the Nordic one. The grey aliens being of different heights is interesting. Maybe it’s like humans and our variety of skin colors. As for the lizard people, I always wondered why they get labeled as violent. It’s like they’re the go to for human-eating alien. No bodysnatchers or copiers around?

    1. I know, I wondered that. Maybe it’s because they are the most scary looking? Or maybe because its true! :p I have absolutely no idea but it is a good point. There’s so many different grey aliens in those videos tho. Worth a look if you have time.

  3. Sacha, I subscribed a few weeks ago and have enjoyed reading your posts. This one was particularly fascinating, because I am also very interested in the idea that we may have been visited by aliens. (Whether we still are is another question – but I am one of those who have seen a UFO.) You may be interested in reading my recent four blog posts on the subject (www.jimmastro.com/blog). The ancient (and current) alien idea forms the basis of my science fiction trilogy, Children of Hathor. (In that story, the “greys” are Joormilians.) In any case, it is a fascinating idea, and I think there is considerable evidence to support it.

    1. Hey Jim, thanks for reading, bit of a mishmash blog this one – but generally Friday’s are dedicated to the science fiction or conspiracy related stuff.

WOW – tell me about your experience of the UFO? I am fascinated. I am 100% certain we aren’t alone, and the ancient aliens stuff fascinates me. I’ll hop over and have a look at your blog 🙂 thanks for stopping in, your book sounds fab.

    2. p.s. your comments are closed so I couldn’t write anything, but the pyramids DEFINITELY are not tombs. As far as I can tell from various bits of research I think they had a few purposes, but one of them was definitely a healing purpose. Some of the rooms vibrate at different frequencies and supposedly they retune our bodies. I wrote a post about sound if you’re interested. This link is for all my posts in this series, but the one I am referring too is the first one: http://sachablack.co.uk/weekly-wonders/

    1. Hey, thank you so much for stopping in and reading. I love Ancient Aliens, both the theories and the TV series. Wow, your story sounds fab, I would love to do a fictional story with the Annunaki in it.

      1. It all started with “Chariots of the God,” by Erich Von Daniken. I am fascinated by the subject. The movie “Stargate” also implied this contact between anicnt aliens and early man. Going back to your post, I loved it. Thanks for sharing. I will keep an eye for more of these. Thanks for sharing.

      2. I actually have about 10 other posts all on this subject. If you’re interested they are here: http://sachablack.co.uk/weekly-wonders/

but generally, I post on Fridays about this topic.

I LOVE Von Daniken, I have chariot of the gods. Have you read any of Zacharia Sitchen?

I’ve seen some of Stargate, but it’s on my list of things to watch. I heard that it implied contact. Thanks for the reminder, I will have to bump it up my list :D.

        What’s your name?

      3. You can call me Andrew. Some people prefer to call me Lonely Author or just plain Chimp. I will folow up and read those posts. No I haven’t read Zacharia, but now I will. Thanks for the suggestion. Your blog is a gold mine.

      4. Well Aloha Andrew 😀 lovely to meet you. Ohh man, I could so tell you a hundred people to go read. Have you watched the Ancient Aliens TV series? Sitchen is hard going, the 12th planet is the first in his books that you should read. But I really like the publishing company Bear and Co, I read a lot of their books on this topic as they are easy to follow. I’m reading this one at the moment: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Aliens-Ancient-Egypt-Brotherhood-Civilization/dp/159143159X/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1457193373&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=ancient+aliens+in+egypt

but if you have a look at the ‘customers who brought this item also brought’ section you will see that publisher has a style of front cover so you can pick out those ones, they’re really good. P.s. thank you for the lovely comment 😀

      5. Thank you so much for all of these suggestions. Yes I follow Ancient Aliens. Fascinated by the subject. This Chimp can be a nerd. And I WILL read your other posts on the subject. We will have fun sharing ideas on the subject. Have a great weekend.

  4. I’ll check that out! Thanks! As for my comments, I’ve been having nothing but trouble with that. When I look at my settings, the comments are open, but when people try to comment, they can’t. It’s frustrating.

As for the UFO, I saw it when I lived in Hawaii, and the incident was witnessed by about 20 other people, several of whom were active duty Air Force and Navy personnel. The lighted object hovered and circled slowly over Pearl Harbor, like a helicopter, then took off like a jet almost overhead, but silently, and disappeared. Everyone was flabbergasted. We were no strangers to military aircraft; they flew overhead every single day. This was something quite different.

Your experience sounds amazing, I wish I could see one.

  5. Wow! You did some homework on this one. An extremely interesting post! I definitely believe in aliens – we’d be a pretty conceited society to think we are the only ones to exist in the entire universe.

    1. Thanks Michelle, I mean, I could have rambled on for at least 4 times the length of the post, but I figured I’d just do the major ones, the videos are a bit shocking though, never realised there were so many conspiracies around different species. I agree though, I think its silly to deny their existence.

  6. I enjoyed this post, Sacha and, like you, am a big Next Generation fan (though I love Star Wars too ). Aliens. Well, I think it’s mad to say that we are the only inhabited planet in the whole universe, so why not? 🙂

  7. Cool. X-Files stuff. Mulder would be proud. So, yeah, didn’t know the details of these individual species. Wild. As I’ve said, I can’t believe we’re the only life in the universe. That’s absurd but I don’t know what it would be. 👽

As far as writing? This: “Even a whisper in society is enough to give weight to a story.” Awesome. 💚💙

    1. ha, you know I was a bit young for X files when it first came out, so I haven’t watched many of them, was too scared. Guna have to give it a go this time round.

  8. I’m sure this is all great advice for science fiction writers like yourself, Sacha. But I am not a fan of the genre. Love the Smoking Man and alien conspiracies. Not sure I believe, but you know, the truth is out there! Great post!

    1. Haha, no idea, I don’t recall seeing anything like that. Just that they are called Nordic because they look like vikings. Who knows, maybe vikings WERE aliens! :p.

I was a smidge young for the x files when it came out the first time. It used to scare me. I might have to give it a go now I’m proper grow’d up :p

  10. No, never come across an alien (at least I don’t think I have), but I do believe they are out there somewhere and have probably visited us many times. I think many of them will have gone to Area 51 and that’s where some may still be held prisoners.
I love Sci-fi, but have never written any stories about Aliens. Oh, and I’m the one that did not cry when E.T went home. 😀
I hope Planet X is due to make an appearance before my sell by date comes up. Do you know when it’s next due to pass us by?

  11. I have heard about Former Canadian Defence Minister Paul Hellyer´s statements concerning the fact that presumably at least four different alien species have been visiting Earth for thousands of years.”James Corden´s ‘Carpool Karaoke’ featuring singer SIA… ha, true story… then I went to Youtube and found videos about this odd subject.
The Grey Aliens seem to be the caucasian stereotype so to speak, I wonder in which measure the show The X Files collaborated to spread it… The empirical basis of their existence, as far as I read, was the Roswell Incident, meaning the alleged crash-landing of a flying saucer in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947. You mentioned this so called UFO accident above, and many conspiracy theories state that an alien craft was found and its occupants were captured, and that the military then engaged in a cover-up…
I have no further information on the subject… But I also heard more human explanations, related to nuclear tests… Which would be surprising as well, but probably because it would be more accepted
The story and assumptions concerning the Annunaki seem absolutely appealing to me…
Anyway… I just wanted to leave my insights…
Oh, and finally a question to you… I am wondering why the Small, greenish-humanoids paradigm was turned off… Or why there is still a sort of collective image which tends to represent aliens as green creatures…
Well then…. thanks so much for sharing this interesting post, dear Sacha… I hope you are having a graet weekend… best wishes. Aquileana 😀

    1. Hola Aquileana, thank you for such a lovely post <3. I hadn't heard that the Greys were the caucasian stereotype – I had heard that about the Nordic's though, because of their fair skin and hair and features, but that's news to me on the Greys – very interesting – will have to research that. Yes, you are right, the Greys became infamous after the Roswell incident. However, there are many a reported sighting for thousands of years of aliens, I guess it just depends on whether you accept the evidence or not, and thats the biggest problem. The validity of evidence is called into question.

I've only heard of the nuclear tests in relation to the glass thing in one of the deserts – the name fails me at the moment. What do you mean nuclear tests?

That is a VERY good question. I don't actually know, but I wonder if it was meant to be derogatory? In terms of relating them to monsters or fairies or 'obviously' made up things? It's a jolly good question, if I find a definitive answer, I will come back to you.
