Bloggers Bash – The Ultimate FAQ

ABBA 2016We have been asked a number of questions on the Bash, most of which are similar to each other. So we thought we would round them all up and pop them in a post all together.

If you have any more questions that haven’t been answered here, let us know and I will add them to this post and pop them on the Bloggers Bash page.

So without further ado here are the Bash’s FAQs

What is the Bloggers Bash?

The Bloggers Bash is a social event for bloggers organised by Sacha, Geoff, Ali and Hugh it’s purpose is to bring together the blogging community and provide an opportunity for everyone to meet the friends they have made online.

When is it?

 11th June 2016: 1pm arrival; 2pm start.

Where is it?

The Driver, London, details can be found here.

The nearest tube station is Kings Cross. More details nearer the day.

What happens on the day?

A final agenda will be released roughly a week before the event.

But there will be: a welcome speech; a chance for you to network and meet friends; the ABBA awards given out at intervals; and a special masterclass on blogging from Luca Sartoni.

At 5pm the formal section ends. We will move downstairs to the bar where a section has been reserved for us. You can order dinner there. Menu’s will be provided closer to the day

What time does it end?

There’s no official end time. The formal section will finish at 5pm. But most of us will have dinner together and continue chatting and networking into the evening.

Last year, most people had left by 8, however we started 2 hours earlier.

We suspect most people will start to drift off by 9/9:30pm.

Will there be food and drink available?

We advise you eat lunch BEFORE arriving. As between 1pm and 5pm there will only be a manned bar in the room. From 5pm you can order food downstairs.

I’m not on WordPress, can I still go?

Absolutely. Bloggers from any and all blogging platforms are welcome. And if you’re not on WordPress then please do share this event as we would love to reach the other platforms

Can I bring a friend?

We would prefer that guests are bloggers, but if you want to bring someone to keep you company you’re more than welcome, as long as you tell us in advance for guest list purposes.

Should I bring anything with me?

Just your lovely selves. And maybe a business card or two to swap and a camera if you like photos.

What are the ABBAs?

The ABBAs are the Annual Bloggers Bash Awards. They are designed in collaboration with you, the bloggers, and the Bash Committee.

You, the bloggers, then nominate your favourite bloggers for the awards.

Then the nominees are put to the vote, it is an open vote, voted for by you.

There are 10 awards this year, and the announcement for them is coming soon.

Details of the voting rules etc., will be posted nearer the time.

What does the Bloggers Bash cost?

This year, the Bash is free to attend. However, due to its success, in future years we may have to charge a small fee in order to continue to grow the event.

How do I get a place to attend?

If you want to come to the Bash drop us a line on:

Annualbloggersbash(AT)yahoo(DOT)co(DOT)uk

With your name and blog address.

We recommend prompt notice to secure a place.

Are there any Bloggers Bash souvenirs?

Yes, you can buy a Bloggers Bash t-shirt here.

I can’t make the Bash, can I still join in remotely?

Yes, we have a Facebook group and Twitter hashtag.

I can’t make it, but I’d like to know what happens.

We (the committee) will write up events from the day as well as post the results of the awards on the day too. Luca’s masterclass will also be made available.

You can buy a t-shirt, and follow on social media.

Also, last year many of the bloggers who attended the Bash posted their experiences. We will post a list of attendees before the day.

What is the Bloggers Bash Myth?

The Bash Myth is a story detailing the mythology that surrounds the Bloggers Bash. Parts one and two can be found here and here.

What are the BOOBS?

We prefer not to give airtime to this subversive group who are intent on destroying the bash and its noble ideals. An example of its appalling behaviour can be found here.

I have a question I’d like to ask the Guest speaker but I can’t come.

Drop us a line if there’s something you’d like asking, although we can’t promise everyone’s questions will get asked, we will do our best.

Who’s going?

We will post a list of confirmed attendees closer to the time so that you can follow them or introduce yourself.

Help! I can’t find the venue.

Fear not. If it is the day of the Bash and you can’t find the venue, we will (closer to the day) provide our numbers to those coming.

Sorry folks, but I can no longer come

Ok, we will cry ourselves to sleep then. Only joking, but it would be great if you could let us know as soon as possible if you can’t make it as places are limited.

I’m camera shy, I don’t want to be filmed or photographed.

Ok, during the day we do film sections of the event and there are copious amounts of photos taken. If you don’t want to be in photos or films please let Sacha and Hugh know on arrival.

      2. I can just imagine it!!!
I remember jealously looking at the photos from the last one, and was on tenterhooks, waiting for confirmation of an event my son is going to be taking part in at the same kind of time this year… when I found out they wouldn’t clash, I literally jumped around like a loony!!!!

    1. Thank you 😊 we try and post as much as possible so that those across the pond are in the loop – that’s actually what started the awards – so that we had a way of incorporating those that weren’t with us 😊💖
